It never fails to upset me when people throw the words “attention whore” at me, or something along those lines.

It mainly seems to stem from the convention appearances. The sad thing is, I go to conventions for the same reason as anybody else. I’m INVITED to a convention because of YGOTAS, but I choose to go because the conventions are fun as hell and meeting awesome and talented people rocks. And I’ve gained some amazing friends from doing so.

At the end of the day, it comes down to a simple case of… I’m being invited to a convention. I have two choices. Say yes and go and have a lot of fun and see old friends and come away with unforgettable memories. Or I say no and nothing changes, and life continues, and it’s just another weekend.

Conventions have allowed me to embrace people whose lives I’ve touched and have touched mine. Conventions have made me a more confident person. I’m not quite as scared to talk to strangers any more, because I realise some of them might be just as scared to talk to me. Conventions made me realise how happy I’ve made people, and how happy I can be with them.

And you know, at the end of the day, every single action we do on the internet is for “attention”. This isn’t a solo experience. If you write something on a forum, or make a video and put it on YouTube, you’re doing it so another person might see it and take interest.

And that isn’t a bad thing. It’s called making a connection.

Shouldn’t be something we get attacked for. Wanting to connect with other people.

It’s very easy to to want to see the negative in anything. Especially in someone like me, who seems to have a lot going for them. But I’m the same as you. I go to conventions because of everyone else.

Not because of me.

Win. 

There is such a thing as a person wanting too much attention and pulling all kinds of BS to get it as much as they can. But you are not one of those people. Those who can’t tell the difference are probably the same people who demand that you give up your entire life to make new episodes, and thus are in need of a severe reality check.
