“I would pay a lot of money for a Zelda game which doesn’t have a happy ending. A Majora’s Mask sequel which shows how Link becomes the Hero’s Shade. A game without a Link leading up to the Great Flood. A game set during the AoL backstory. Something dark and morbid and heart-wrenching.”

The games are sort of heart-wrenching already, you want me to suffer a lot more?
Nintendo, you better read this and make a game like this immediately!

I was thinking that we could have one that depicts Ganondorf’s origin. We know that [SPOILER AHEAD] Demise is some form of Ganondorf’s ancestor, and that incarnations of his rage would haunt Link and Zelda’s descendants for ages. Since Wind Waker, I have a headcanon that Ganondorf was not born evil, but rather, he had a noble cause to aim for; a better life for his people, for example. He initially wanted to achieve his goal doing the right thing, but got desperate and found an entity or source of power (Demise) that he thought could help him. In time, his newly-acquired powers got to him and corrupted him, turning him into the villain we all know.
I’d like a game that introduces us to the man he was before, has the player watch helplessly as he falls from grace, and concludes the game on the note that they will have to strike him down eventually.

Now I really love this idea.

I love caffeine’s idea too :o
